Del-Mor Dwellings -Provide transportation vouchers and household essentials
Our agency is requesting capital funding that will allow us to purchase Delaware County transit fare cards for approximately one hundred and four (104) residents, the total number of Delaware County residents that Del-Mor Dwellings houses. If allocated the funding request, this would allow each resident to have sixty transit vouchers per year.
We are also asking for funding that would purchase household cleaning items and basic hygiene necessities, such has toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, and shower supplies. We have residents without any source of income and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) does not cover any of these purchases. The residents, therefore, struggle with the physical upkeep of their apartments. This struggle impacts their ability to maintain permanent, supportive housing and places them at risk for failed housing inspections, pest infestations, and creates risks to their physical health. Despite being impacted by a severe, persistent mental disability, our residents will be able to operate from a more equitable "playing field" where they can focus on their own wellness and symptom management instead of living in a constant state of crisis.
