Heidi Walton Steitz Memorial Scholarship

The Heidi Walton Steitz Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior or current college/university student who aspires for a career as an educator. Preference will be given to applicants with the greatest financial need. Scholarship recipients may apply in subsequent years as this scholarship is renewable for up to three additional years of post-secondary education.

Recipient must be a graduating high school senior from one of the schools below:

  • Cardington Lincoln High School 
  • Olentangy Local School District High School
  • Buckeye Valley High School 

OR

Recipient must be a graduate of any of the high schools listed above and currently enrolled in an education major at:

  • The Ohio State University
  • Ohio Wesleyan University
  • Ashland University

Recipent must have plans to attend post-secondary education leading to a bachelor’s degree in education.

Preference will be given to applicants with the greatest financial need.

This scholarship honors the legacy of Heidi Walton Steitz, mother, teacher and inspiration. Heidi always had time for everyone and taught them how to love and have fun. As a teacher, she was a master at building self-esteem and confidence helping students navigate the challenging middle school years. She was 1976 a graduate of Buckeye Valley High School, a 1981 graduate of the Ohio State University and a graduate of the Master’s program at Ashland University. She followed her passion for teaching, working at in the Cardington-Lincoln Local School District for six years then beginning her career in the Olentangy Local School District at which she stayed until 2014.
