Delaware County Master Gardener Association Scholarship

The Delaware County Master Gardener Association (DCMGA) is awarding two $2,500 scholarships to Delaware County students.  These scholarships are for post-secondary programs in 1) horticulture, 2)botany, 3)agriculture/crop science, 4) environmental science, 5) plant based nutrition, or a related field at an accredited college, university, or technical school in the United States.  The mission of DCMGA is to teach environmentally sound, research-based gardening practices to the citizens of Delaware County, under the auspices of the Ohio State University Extension of Delaware County.

Recipient must be a graduating high school senior from Delaware County

OR

Recipient must be a graduate of a Delaware County school and currently enrolled in an accredited college/university.

 

Promenschenkel Penguin Scholarship

Promenschenkel Penguin Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a swimmer at the Liberty Township Powell YMCA who has participated with the Penguin Swim Team for two of the last three winter seasons. 

REQUIREMENTS

* Must be a graduating senior who has participated in swimming with the Liberty Township YMCA Penguin Swim Team for two (2) of the last three (3) winter seasons;

* Must have a GPA of at least 3.0 or higher on a 4-point scale or its equivalent;

* Must be enrolling full-time in an accredited institution for a 4-year degree, 2-year degree, or certificate program;

* Must have 40 hours (minimum) of verifiable community service activities;

* Consideration is given to applicant’s financial need.

 

Will Berisford Memorial Scholarship

Will Berisford Memorial Scholarship

The Will Berisford Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a candidate whose life and/or immediate family has been affected by sarcoma cancer. A selection committee representing the donors and the Delaware County Foundation will review applications and make recommendations annually. 

REQUIREMENTS
* U.S. Resident must either (a.) be a sarcoma patient, (b.) be a sarcoma survivor, (c.) be an immediate family member of a sarcoma cancer patient or survivor. 
* Must have GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4 point scale or its equivalent;
* Must be enrolled in or have plans to be enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school.

Bill Rietz Scholarship

Bill Rietz Scholarship

The  Bill Rietz Scholarship was established by the officers of the Delaware Aquatic Racing Team Stingrays (DARTS) to recognize the service of Coach Bill. DARTS is a summer league program for competitive swimming and diving. Coach Bill began coaching DARTS in 1979 and continues to coach Stingray swimmers today. The funds generated by fundraisers and contributions allow for an annual scholarship to be awarded to a graduating senior from a Delaware County high school who participated in DARTS.

Scholarship designated for individuals (graduating seniors OR those returning to college) from Delaware (OH) County who have participated in the Delaware Aquatic Racing Team Stingrays (DARTS) in either swimming or diving.

REQUIREMENTS
*Graduating senior with GPA of 2.5 or higher;
*Student returning to college to complete first degree;
*Must be enrolling full-time in an accredited university or college;
*Consideration is given to applicant’s financial need.

Each spring, Coach Bill has the pleasure of presenting the scholarship to the recipient at their high school Senior Awards program.

James A. Augur Scholarship

James A. Augur Scholarship

James A. Augur passed away unexpectedly in 2014 at the age of 51. He had a passion for education and job skills. The James A. Augur scholarship was created to continue his legacy and focuses on graduating seniors pursuing a vocational or technical career path.

Please note: This scholarship is reserved for non-traditional post-secondary programs.

REQUIREMENTS

* Must be a graduating senior from Delaware or Marion County OR past student (preference will be given to graduating seniors);

* Must have a GPA of at least 2.5 or higher on a 4-point scale or its equivalent;

* Must be a student pursuing a non-traditional post-secondary path (ie. CDL, culinary school, nurse’s aide training, etc.);

* Consideration is given to applicant’s financial need.
