This scholarship honors the legacy of an incredible woman whom the world lost in 2016. Alissa was a proud graduate of Buckeye Valley High School’s class of 2006, who went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from Ohio University. She had an undeniable tenacity that was felt by everyone she encountered. She was personable, compassionate, determined, witty, generous, and driven. As an accomplished equestrian, she showed all over the nation and into Canada, making friends and leaving an impact on people far and wide. She and her beloved horse, The Snooty Fox, won many prestigious awards, and she was the proud president of OU’s western equestrian team. But what made her truly special was her commitment and dedication to those she loved. She was the self-proclaimed “Aunt of the Year,” Christmas cookie baker extraordinaire, and homemade gift giver. She was a planner of cookouts, family gatherings, and vacations that will be cherished forever.
The recipient of this scholarship will memorialize Alissa’s gracious spirit. It will be awarded to a graduate of Buckeye Valley High School who demonstrates similar characteristics and seeks to improve their life through ongoing education.
