Diane Minns Future Educator Scholarship

The Diane Minns Future Educator Scholarship was created to honor the life and legacy of Diane Minns, a dedicated special education teacher with over 40 years of service. Born and raised in the Cleveland area, Diane earned her undergraduate degree in teaching from Bowling Green State University and a Master’s in Curriculum from Cleveland State University. Throughout her career, she taught students of all ages, from elementary to university levels. Her later years were dedicated to high school education, teaching at Buckeye Valley High School and Centerville High School.


Diane was deeply committed to the belief that teachers have the power to profoundly influence their students, especially those with special needs. She was a vibrant, social person who thrived in active, people-centered environments.


This scholarship honors Diane’s passion for education by supporting graduating seniors or alumni of Buckeye Valley High School and Centerville High School. By helping others afford these educational paths, this scholarship ensures that Diane’s dedication to fostering growth and opportunity lives on.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicant(s) must be a graduating high school senior from the following Ohio High Schools
    – Buckeye Valley High School
    – Centerville High School
    with plans to attend post-secondary education leading to a degree in education or a related field.

OR

  • Applicant(s) must have graduated from one of the high schools listed above and be currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution pursuing a degree in education or a related field.
  • Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA or demonstrate good standing in their academic program.
  • Preference will be given to:
    a. Students pursuing a special education teaching career or a teaching career (non-specific)
    b. Students who are planning to attend or are currently attending Bowling Green State University.
  • This scholarship may be renewable. Students seeking renewal must reapply each year and compete with other applicants for scholarship awards.
