This scholarship fund honors Gavin Schlotterbeck, whose life was tragically lost at age 17. Gavin was smart, funny, adventurous and generous, and he was rarely seen without a smile on his face. He was loved by many, and is missed dearly. Gavin loved to play ice hockey and was a member of the Olentangy Liberty JV hockey team. For five summers, he was a teen ZooAide volunteer at the Columbus Zoo, a place he loved, and he planned to become a veterinarian. An avid reader and people person, he also enjoyed volunteering at the Delaware County Library and the Common Ground Free Store. To honor his kind and caring spirit, we will present a scholarship to each a hockey player and a ZooAide. We will be looking for more than a good athlete or good grades. While those things are wonderful achievements, we want to recognize someone who possesses Gavin’s spirit of generosity and participation in their community. A genuine thoughtful and kind person is a treasure to the world.

To honor Gavin and his passion for hockey, this scholarship is designated for graduating seniors who have participated in youth and/or high school hockey programs.

REQUIREMENTS
* Graduating senior who has participated in hockey program
* Preference will be given to an Olentangy Liberty High School student
* Must be enrolling full-time in an accredited institution for a 4-year degree, 2-year degree or certificate program
* Must have verifiable community service activities
