There wasn’t a place or activity Macy didn’t love—school, softball, soccer, gymnastics, playing the piano, running, cheerleading, dancing, reading, singing, swimming, making crafts, baking—you name it, she was eager to try it. Adventure could have been her middle name.

Some of Macy’s favorite things included her family and friends, her Double Doodle dog, chocolate cake, her shoe collection, and the Buckeyes. She loved all things glittery and pink and wanted to wear a dress and high heels every day. Whether on the softball diamond, the soccer field, in dance or gymnastics class, at piano lessons, or in the classroom, Macy was always smiling—her joy was contagious to everyone around her.

On June 14, 2016, while on her way to a softball game, Macy suffered an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) rupture, causing her brain to bleed. Despite the efforts of doctors and staff at Grady Memorial and Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Macy passed away.

In the evening of June 16, into the early morning hours of June 17, Macy gave the ultimate gift—the gift of life. Through organ donation, she saved the lives of two children and two adults by donating her healthy heart, liver, pancreas, and
two kidneys.
